Calvert MMA Academy – Lineage BJJ’s advanced Gracie Jiu-Jitsu program is a continuation of our beginner Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu program. Students must be a blue belt or higher in rank to attend, unless invited by an instructor. In the advanced Gracie Jiu-Jitsu program, students learn Relson Gracie’s style of Jiu-Jitsu. In Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competition, Relson’s record is unprecedented and unmatched to this day. Relson was the Brazilian national champion for 22 years straight, competing in his weight class and in the absolute division (open weight class). In addition, Grand Master Relson Gracie competed a total of 26 years undefeated before retiring from competition. Relson Gracie’s style of jiu-jitsu is very basic, simple, effective and works well for both BJJ competitions and MMA. Relson’s style of Jiu-Jitsu also translates perfect to street self-defense situations. Unlike Jiu-Jitsu schools which rely on flashy sport competition techniques, Relson’s technique work on and off the mats which means you won’t waste time practicing techniques that simple won’t work on the streets.
Withing the Helio Gracie Jiu-Jitsu system there are over 600 core techniques, plus another 130 self-defense techniques. In order to earn a black belt in our system a student must master all of these techniques to earn his or her black belt.
