Stephanie Milton began her yoga practice in 2004 and completed her 200 hour yoga teacher training with Ann Hunt in 2011. Having attended several Global Malas, which are international yoga practices created by Shiva Rea in 2007 to recognize UN International Peace Day, Stephanie Milton planned the first Southern Maryland Global Mala as her karma project and the donations from this event benefited the Hospice centers in St. Mary’s and Calvert Counties, Project Echo, Safe Harbor, the Calvert County Crisis Intervention Center, and church food pantries. Stephanie Milton has enjoyed writing a paper on Thich Nhat Hanh’s theory of mindfulness as well as attending mandala and meditation workshops, a Nosara Yoga Weekend Retreat with Don and Amba Stapleton of the Nosara Yoga Institute, and the first YoKid Conference in 2014, the highlight of which was listening to Sat Bir S. Khalsa’s lecture on the wellness benefits of yoga for all. Stephanie Milton has also loved offering lunchtime yoga practices for students and yoga practices for the wrestling and swim teams at Northern High School, where she has taught English since 2004. Stephanie continues to practice with her long-time teacher, Susan Skow, to whom she is deeply grateful for her joyful and compassionate teaching. Stephanie appreciates the continuing potency and dynamic power of yoga as a process of inquiry and looks forward to offering a safe and encouraging experience for students to enjoy the gifts of the ancient wellness tradition that is yoga.
Stephanie Milton will host walk-in Yoga classes on Mondays at the Calvert MMA Academy. Classes are only $10 per session and start at 3:30PM till 4:30PM.
