Porter Foley is one of those students.

Within Calvert MMA Academy® and Lineage BJJ®, Porter has earned a reputation as one of the most accomplished and respected youth grapplers in the Southern Maryland region—not just because of his talent, but because of how he trains, how he leads, and how he shows up every day.

Earned, Not Given

Porter is on the mats more than almost anyone.

Before class. After class. Between classes.

He’s there.

real, proven ability under pressure.

As a younger student, Porter didn’t just stay in his lane—he stepped up.

He has competed in adult divisions and has successfully submitted experienced adult practitioners—including black belts.

That’s not normal.

That’s what happens when preparation meets opportunity.

Proven Across Disciplines

Porter’s ability isn’t limited to Jiu-Jitsu.

As a freshman, he stepped onto the wrestling mat for the first time in his life—joining the Northern High School wrestling team with zero prior wrestling experience.

Within a single season, he didn’t just learn the sport…

He became the only freshman on his team to qualify for the state championships.

First year.

No background.

No shortcuts.

Just work.

That kind of result doesn’t happen by accident. It reflects a deep understanding of movement, balance, pressure, and mental toughness—skills built through years of consistent Jiu-Jitsu training.
