Located in Sunderland, MD—just off Dalrymple Road near 7-Eleven, one mile south of the Route 4 and Route 2 split—Calvert MMA Academy® is Southern Maryland’s only certified Gracie Jiu-Jitsu academy. Led by Professor Jim Thrift, a fifth-degree black belt under Grandmaster Relson Gracie, we offer unmatched Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and self-defense training for all ages in Calvert County—including Huntingtown, Prince Frederick, Owings, Dunkirk, North Beach, Chesapeake Beach, Port Republic, and St. Leonard.

Unlike karate, taekwondo, or sport-focused martial arts schools, our authentic Gracie Jiu-Jitsu delivers real-world self-defense and proven results—earning 1st place in the 2024 Maryland State Championships and 1st in the world for kids and teens.
