Youth Competition Team at Calvert MMA Academy®

Southern Maryland’s Elite Gracie Jiu-Jitsu & Competition Training Program for Ages 8–13

The Youth Competition Team at Calvert MMA Academy® is a higher-level training group for students who have demonstrated the skill, focus, maturity, and work ethic to train at a more demanding level.

This is not an open-enrollment class. Students do not sign up for this program. Entry requires a coach recommendation or invitation.

This class is designed for students who are preparing to compete—or are already competing—and are ready for a more serious pace of training.

Training is more advanced in both structure and intensity. Students are expected to stay focused, work hard, and keep up physically. An invitation to this class is earned.

The program is led by Coach Jack Sudduth, captain of our competition team and one of the most experienced active competitors in the region, with 450+ competition matches and counting.

Under the leadership of Professor Jim Thrift, a 5th-degree black belt under Grandmaster Relson Gracie, our academy is home to Team LINEAGE® and one of the most accomplished youth competition teams in Southern Maryland.
