Greetings to all the aspiring martial artists and Jiu-Jitsu enthusiasts out there! Allow me to introduce myself – I'm Seun, one of the dedicated coaches at Calvert MMA Academy®, with a focus on guiding the young talents in our Jr. Grapplers (Ages 8-13) classes. My journey is an amalgamation of cities, experiences, and a deep-rooted passion for martial arts.

Originally hailing from Baltimore, MD, I spent a significant part of my upbringing in the vibrant streets of Roxbury, Massachusetts. However, destiny led me back to Maryland for my undergraduate and graduate studies, where my affinity for martial arts took a life-changing turn. My initiation into the world of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) commenced with the art of boxing, a discipline that instilled a sense of discipline and resilience within me.

A Transformative Path to Jiu-Jitsu

During my exploration of martial arts, I was introduced to the captivating world of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ). This art captured my heart and led me down a path of dedication that continues to unfold. For the past 5-6 years, I have immersed myself in the intricacies of Jiu-Jitsu, and the more I delved into it, the more I fell in love with its elegance and effectiveness.

Jiu-Jitsu, for me, has transcended the boundaries of a physical practice – it has become a way of life.
